This Privacy Policy explains what personal information GenAITrail (“GenAITrail”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects when you visit genaitrail.com (the “Site”), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at officialgenaitrail@gmail.com.
Who we are
GenAITrail is an independent educational website publishing tutorials, news, interview preparation material and career guidance related to artificial intelligence, generative AI and data science. Our website address is https://genaitrail.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. We only receive this information when you choose to send it:
- Newsletter subscription – your email address, when you subscribe to the GenAITrail newsletter.
- Contact form – your name, email address and the content of your message, when you contact us through the Site.
- Comments – if you leave a comment on an article, we store the name, email address and website you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help us detect spam.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tools record technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used in aggregate to keep the Site secure and to understand which content is useful.
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive personal information such as government identifiers, financial account details or health information. Please do not send such information to us.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our service providers use them for the following purposes:
- Essential and functional cookies – required for the Site to work correctly, including page caching and remembering your details if you leave a comment. If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not have to fill them in again; these cookies last for one year.
- Analytics cookies – used to measure traffic and understand how visitors use the Site.
- Advertising cookies – used by third-party advertising partners to select and measure the ads shown to you, where advertising is displayed.
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Some parts of the Site may not work as intended if essential cookies are blocked.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through the Site Kit by Google plugin, to understand how the Site is used — for example which articles are read most and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information such as your IP address, device and browsing activity on our Site on our behalf. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. More information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy.
Advertising
The Site may display advertising supplied by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
- Third-party advertising networks set their own cookies and are governed by their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Email and the newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored by our email delivery provider and used only to send you GenAITrail updates. We do not sell, rent or share subscriber email addresses. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing officialgenaitrail@gmail.com.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this Site may include embedded content such as videos, images or code examples hosted elsewhere. Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited that other website: those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
How we use your information
- To operate, maintain and secure the Site.
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To publish and moderate comments.
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To measure and improve our content.
- To display advertising that helps keep the Site free.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases for processing
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, we process personal data on the following bases: your consent (newsletter subscription, non-essential cookies), our legitimate interests (site security, spam prevention, aggregate analytics, replying to your enquiries), and legal obligation where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Site, and only to the extent needed:
- Hosting – our web host stores the Site and its server logs.
- Email delivery – our newsletter and transactional email providers.
- Analytics and advertising – Google, as described above.
- Spam filtering and security services.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of GenAITrail or others. Some of these providers are located outside your country, which may involve transferring your information internationally; where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep information
- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically.
- Contact form submissions are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and are then deleted.
- Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it — this does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
To exercise any of these rights, email officialgenaitrail@gmail.com. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children’s privacy
This Site is intended for students and working professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on the site’s administration. No method of transmission or storage on the Internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other websites
The Site contains links to third-party websites, tools and documentation. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with any personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Site or to the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
